CrossFit Curling

Our very own, Norm & Deb Richard competed in a Mixed Doubles Curling tournament last weekend in Alberta. They were up against some of the best curlers in the world! Following is their experience in Norm’s word’s:

“Playing against the world top curlers was an experience for Debbie and I. We may not have won a single game, but it’s not about winning, it’s about feeling good and always pushing to the next level. We never gave up and ensured they made their shots to win against us. As you’ve mentioned in your blog’s Tom, we need to push our max in order to improve. Need to work on that 1RM. Well the same goes for curling, we had to take this opportunity to improve ourselves by playing against the best curlers in the world.

Debbie and I felt good all weekend. When we had to sweep hard or run around to get to the rock, we had no problems doing so, and playing 3 games in one day was easily done. Crossfit is one reason why we can do this so easily.

A few curlers knew about Crossfit (Halifax, Fredericton and Saskatchewan folks). Many feel frightened to enter their local crossfit box due to the fear of not being able to do anything the Rx folks due. Debbie and I try to send the message that there are intermediate levels and they should at least meet with the crossfit coaches to discuss if it’s good for them or not.”
